Dallas Featured Presenters
MARION WEISS
Co-founder, WEISS/MANFREDI
Opening Keynote
Weiss is the cofounder of WEISS/MANFREDI Architecture/Landscape/Urbanism, a multidisciplinary design practice based in New York City. Her firm expands the definition of architecture by connecting the territories of art, architecture, infrastructure, and ecology to create new public realms. Competition-winning projects include the Olympic Sculpture Park, University of Pennsylvania’s Nanotechnology Center, and the Women’s Memorial at Arlington Cemetery. Current projects include a mixed-use building for MIT’s Kendall Square Initiative that will house the new MIT Museum and the US Embassy in New Delhi, India. Weiss is the Graham Chair Professor of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Design and has been honored with the Academy Award for Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Architectural League’s Emerging Voices Award, Harvard’s International VR Green Urban Design Award, the New York AIA Gold Medal of Honor, and exhibitions at the MoMA, the Venice Biennale, the Louvre, and the Guggenheim.
ANDREW HERDEG
Partner, LAKE|FLATO
Afternoon Keynote
Herdeg’s designs foster meaningful and lasting relationships between building users and the natural environment, demonstrating a confluence of the art of building, the science of sustainability, and love for the natural landscape. He has developed a body of work that reinforces essential human experiences at the intersection of architecture and landscape. Herdeg’s thoughtful designs reflect a commitment to the study of place: climate, natural resources, cultural precedents, and historic building traditions. He employs strategies such as extroverting circulation and program spaces, maximizing daylight to shape unique experiences, framing views that capture specific features of a site and blending architecture and the land to create meaningful, lasting impressions upon those who utilize and experience his buildings.
BRENDAN O’GRADY
Vice President, CallisonRTKL
O’Grady is an award-winning designer and Vice President in CallisonRTKL’s Dallas office. In his experience designing mixed-use, office, hospitality, resort, entertainment, retail and sports-related developments, he consistently pushes the limits of design and fabrication while encouraging people to think about the interrelationship between architecture and the environment in a different way. O’Grady’s work has been featured in numerous publications, including Architectural Record, The Architectural Review, LA Architect, Texas Architect, Surface, Bauwelt and The New York Times.
